Twilight Series

By: Stephanie Meyer

I’ve finally read this series after  I finally got bored of people telling me how good it was. And I have to admit it is quite good. Now my friend is watching over my shoulder and she is an obessive Twilight fan and is helping me write this.

Well, for starters, Twilight is not your average love story. It starts off pretty normal. The opening line of the first chapter is talking about how much Bella (The main character) is going to miss where she is moving from… Pretty average hun?  Bella moves to Forks Washington with her dad, and has to go to school there. That’s also pretty average. Not for long, she is soon mesmerized by a strikingly beautiful young chap named Edward Cullen. Sounds like your average love story? If that’s what you’re looking for then you can stop reading this and go back to your local library and look for some a love story that takes place in the 1800s. Well you might actually find Edward there because….. Edward Cullen turns out to be a vampire! But Bella was stupid enough to fall in love with him, and now, her life and her mortality is in danger. If I had a vampire boyfriend would just eat me, or change, me, but Edward is too nice to do that. BIG MISTAKE!!!

Sorry for my friends weirdness, I just hope it shows you that everyone likes this book even crazy people like him…er.. her?

Normally it would be me writing this but my friend BEGGED me. Peace out! Have fun reading!

Magyk by Angie Sage

July 21, 2008 at 1:57 pm (Adventure, Books, Kids, Mystical/Magical, Series, Teens, Tweens)

In my opinion Angie Sage is a genius! In one book she packs in loads of excitement, adventure at points there is suspense. It is GREAT!

This story is all about the seventh son of the seventh son. According to everybody he will be one of the most powerful wizards of all! Silas Heap was the seventh son… and he had a seventh son!.. But he died…. But is it possible that he has survived hidden away for ten years? Throw in an ordinary girl (supposedly) living with the Heaps who is actually the Queenling, an assassin out to get the Queenling, A evil and crazy Necromancer, Brownies,a Boggart, Quake Ooze and tons more… Well I think that makes up a great book don’t you?!

Although some readers may be intimidated by it’s thickness, I say it is so worth it! I will soon be reviewing the next 3 books in the series (Flyte, Physik and Queste) As soon as I finish them that is!

Please don’t hesitate to post a comment I would love to hear what you think!

Before Green Gables

March 23, 2008 at 10:10 pm (Books, Teens, Tweens)

By: Budge Wilson We  all know the classic series, Anne of Green Gables, but did you ever wonder what happened before Green Gables? How does Anne have such an extraordinary vocabulary, or what families did Anne have to live with during her whole life, how did she deal with all the people that she loved disappearing or dying? How did Anne cope with all the hard work she had to do since she was 4? Where did she find her love for P.E.I.? All of these questions are answered, not to mention a lot more. This is an extraordinary book, which fascinated me, with obvious skill Budge Wilson has competed this wonderful book. I hope that you will read this book and enjoy it as much as I did!

Girl Overboard

March 16, 2008 at 12:21 am (Books, Teens, Tweens)

By: Justina Chen Headley       When your dad is a famous billionaire you expect everything to go well, but when you’re Syrah things don’t go that way. Syrah’s step-brother and step-sister hate her, her best friend’s girlfriend is ruining their friendship, the guy Syrah thinks loves her is actually just after her fathers wallet, and to top it all off she can’t do the one thing she loves most of all.. SNOWBOARDING. A mountain is the one place she isn’t known as Syrah Cheng the girl with the famous billionaire as a father, but as she really is. But after a terrible accident that ripped a muscle in her knee she can’t snowboard. All Syrah really wants is a real friend, not one who just wants her fortune, but someone she can share her feelings with, and parents that don’t travel all the time and that spend time with her. Can a three year old girl with leukemia, who will probably die if she can’t find a bone marrow match, and some long lost family members help her change her outlook on life? I loved this book it was fantastic.

Gilda Joyce Psychic Investigator

February 3, 2008 at 4:25 pm (Books, Mystery, Series, Tweens)

By: Jennifer Allison     This is an absolutely great book!! I loved it!!! this book is about a girl who lives with her mother and her brother.(Her father died) This girl is Gilda. Gilda has always loved to dress up and spy on other people, not because she is rude it is just because she likes to find out things about other people. Also ever since her dad died she has been determined to contact “the other side.” Gilda always has her fathers old typewriter around. (She loves to write)Then one summer she goes to her to her long lost uncles house where she finds out, lives a tortured ghost.  Gilda and her cousin are soon snooping through the old house late at night to try and find out the family secret. But wait… Gilda’s uncle sure has a lot to hide could it possibly be that he knows something no one else does and could he just possibly have helped kill this poor ghost?  Well I guess you will just have to read the book to find out! I would also like to say there is another one of these books which.(Gilda Joyce and the Ladies of the Lake.)

Welcome!

February 3, 2008 at 3:52 pm (Books, Intro)

Hello everybody out there! This is my blog where I’ve decided to review books, the reviews are just my opinions so if you disagree with me then please feel free to write a comment. Yes I admit it I’m a bookworm, but I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. With books you are learning and sometimes imagining. When you watch T.V. you are just sitting around and being a lump you don’t really learn anything and sure when your bored it seems like T.V. is the only option but it not! When you are reading a good book you can get lost in some wonderful place and you feel like you never want to finish that book.(unfortunately that never happens) I think that  if people knew some good books that they could read then people would read more. Just recently I heard someone say “It’s so much easier to just watch the movie instead of reading the book” well I totally disagree with that does anybody know how many parts are cut out of books? No, I don’t think so they all think they are watching all of a story and they didn’t have to read any book. Plus there are so many great books that don’t get made into movies! So that basically explains why I am reviewing books.
